THE CONNECTIONS BEHIND YOUR BUSINESS
Domain Backorders: Retirement and Next Steps
Understand retired domain backorders, existing-account questions and appropriate next steps for finding a domain.
A backorder used to attempt to acquire a registered domain if it became available. It was never a guarantee that the domain would be obtained. The provider identifies backorders and monitoring as a legacy product that is no longer sold.
Start here
- Looking at an old backorder product page? Treat it as historical information, not an available purchase.
- Looking for a new name? Use CubixDomains domain search or the name generator; generated names are not verified availability.
- Looking for a particular registered name? Review legitimate aftermarket options and their terms. This page does not offer a new Cubix backorder or guarantee acquisition.
- Have a question about a past credit or charge? Use secure account access and contact the provider through its authorized support flow. Do not share account identifiers, payment information or authorization codes in public comments.
What the retirement means
GoDaddy’s archived help guide identifies backorders and monitoring as a legacy product that is no longer sold and says the guide stopped being updated on October 7, 2025. That archive date should not be read as a new purchase or account-specific support promise. GoDaddy’s August 2024 announcement states that new backorder purchases stopped on August 8, 2024. Do not rely on the archive for current credit balances, eligibility or refunds. The historical announcement discusses auctions as an alternative acquisition route, but no Cubix reseller attribution or purchase handoff for auctions has been verified here.
Your next useful step
Search domain names or generate name ideas. These paths help with new registrations; they are not a substitute guarantee for acquiring someone else’s registered domain.
