Windows Hosting: Plan Around Application Compatibility
Understand Windows application compatibility, Plesk and server responsibilities before planning a hosting move.
A Windows application needs a compatibility review before a hosting move. Plesk shared hosting, a Windows VPS and a Windows dedicated server are different operating models; none is automatically equivalent to Linux cPanel hosting.
Start here
Write down the operating system requirement, application/runtime versions, database dependencies, scheduled tasks and required administration rights. Separate the website’s DNS records from its email service before planning a migration.
| Existing situation | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Plesk shared hosting | Current account support, application compatibility and migration options |
| Windows VPS | OS licensing, supported image/runtime, patching and administration responsibilities |
| Windows dedicated server | Hardware/OS requirements, management scope and recovery plan |
Provider documentation describes Windows Plesk as no longer available for new purchase while retaining support documentation. That does not determine whether a particular reseller has an exception, nor whether current Windows server products are available.
Preserve existing customers
Use secure account access to identify the product actually owned. Back up application data and required configuration privately. Confirm the target environment and rehearse restoration before changing DNS or cancelling existing hosting.
No current Windows purchase destination or software-version guarantee is offered here until verified for CubixDomains.
